Swachh Bharath Divas - Gandhi Jayanti (02 October 2026)
On 2 October 2026, the NCC Unit of Government Arts College, Thiruvananthapuram, conducted a social service activity in connection with Gandhi Jayanthi, commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.A total of 43 NCC cadets reported at 8:30 AM, and the programme commenced at 9:00 AM. As part of the activity, the cadets actively participated in cleanliness and cleaning activities at Gandhi Bhavan, Kerala Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, as well as on the college campus.The activity aimed to promote cleanliness, social responsibility, community service, and the dignity of labour among the cadets. The programme reflected the ideals and principles of Mahatma Gandhi, particularly his emphasis on cleanliness, selfless service, dignity of labour, and responsibility towards society.
TB mukt Bharat Abhigyan
As part of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the NCC Cadets of Government Arts College organised a TB Awareness Campaign on 11 September 2026. The cadets distributed awareness posters among students and the general public to promote awareness about TB prevention, early detection, and treatment.
Independence Day Celebration 2026
The Independence Day Celebration 2026 was conducted at Government Arts College, Thiruvananthapuram, on 15th August 2026 with the active participation of the NCC, NSS , Campus Connect and College Union. The NCC cadets reported at 08:30 a.m. and assembled at the college ground in proper discipline and turnout. The programme commenced at 09:00 a.m. with the flag hoisting by Dr. Umajyothi V, Principal of Government Arts College, followed by the National Anthem. This was followed by the NCC parade at 09:10 a.m., where the cadets demonstrated discipline, coordination and the training acquired through NCC activities. The programme continued with the Welcome Address and Independence Day messages by the NCC CTO and NSS Programme officer. Cultural programmes including a patriotic song by NSS volunteers and a flashmob by NCC cadets were conducted with great enthusiasm. An Essay Writing Competition and Quiz Competition were also organised as part of the celebration, with the quiz being conducted from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks. The active participation of the NCC cadets contributed to the successful and disciplined conduct of the Independence Day celebration. The event was conducted in a patriotic and dignified atmosphere, highlighting the values of discipline, unity, patriotism and national responsibility.
Kargil Vijay Diwas: In connection with *Kargil Vijay Diwas*, the NCC Unit of Govt. Arts College, Thycaud conducted a special parade and remembrance program on 29th July2026. Around *20 Cadets* were present for the program. The program was held in the presence of Smt. Rabitha M.V, CTO, 2(K) BN NCC*.CTO delivered a *motivational speech* about the brave soldiers of Kargil and their sacrifice for the nation. As a mark of respect, *2 minutes of silence* was observed with eyes closed to remember the martyrs. *Flowers were placed in front of the photos* of Kargil heroes.
